video evaluation
WWW: in my video, I feel that the strongest point was the timing of the editing. each shot timing fit well with each bar/beat closest to it and this made a cohesive piece of media and it added to the visual appeal of the video. another strong point that enhanced the video was the choice of scenery. at the time of filming it there was a lot of low level sunlight which gave a golden effect, which was particularly effective in establishing the differences between the colour palettes at the beginning and end. in addition to this, the forest location gave the sense of wildness that the character was feeling, which enhanced the perception from the audience. a part of the visual that also helped throughout was the makeup I chose to wear. due to its brighter hues and contrast against each other, it showed up well at the beginning, the middle and the end. overall, the colour scheme was important and effective because of the storyline it had on its own, getting less colourful as the character came back into reality. the editing was strong because we filmed more than we needed to, allowing the opportunity for extra short duration shots to be included between the longer story related shots. this created a glitchy or panicked effect and allowed the audience to see the characters thoughts a little.
EBI: next time I should use less filters, probably sticking to one or two in order to divide the lip syncing of a chorus and the storyline of the character, perhaps with another one for the dividing short duration shots. this will make the video less busy and easier for the audience to take in. to make up for this, an improvement would be to add a wider range of camera angles, and make sure the filming is as clear as it can be when the focus is still. a lot of the scenes at the start went on for too long, perhaps trying too hard to be understood by the audience. in addition, include some sort of audio at the beginning of the video so it is not quiet for too long before the song starts. choosing a fitting sound to go with the location will be the most effective. some of the shorter shots didn't make sense with the story, for example the static never fitted into it any more of the story, and some of the glitch shots were unintentional or just conveniently there. during the process of editing, I also need to remember to crop the picture so it doesn't come up with blank space round the edge, and just in case I forget about this, take the watermark off the bottom of the video when I'm saving it.
